WHAT IS KOMPA
Kompa is a musical genre, a derivative of the Haitian Merengue that people have been dancing and playing since the 1800s. Written as Compas Direct in French, and Kompa or konpa in Haitian Creole, several festivals worldwide annually feature Compas music and other aspects of Haitian Culture. Compas is the basic music of many countries in the Caribbean such as the French Antilles of Martinique & Guadeloupe; most of the Lesser Antilles like Dominica , Grenada, St Lucia, etc. known in French Guyana and many African Countries, Merengue-compas is also the basic music of Cape Verde Where it is known as zouk . French Antilles artists have taken it or compas to places where Haitian artists had toured, the truth is that this light meringue compas is very popular in the Caribbean, Africa, Cape verde, France, Canada, South and Central America.

James Yves Dorante says: My Favorite Guitar Player
Hi Ralph
Over the years, I enjoyed listen to several remarkable haitian guitarists: Ricardo Franck, Robert Martino, Eddy Woolley, Andre Pasquet, Elysee Pyroneau...
I have also learned to appreciate some foreign guitarists such as Wes Montgomery, Eric Clapton, George Benson, Norman Brown, Lee Ritenour...
I can barely play a few chords myself, but I love music, and I can recognize greatness when I hear it. As my favorite guitar player, I think you have raised the bar, and set new standards in our music
I`m really impressed by the quality of your sound, your speed, your inspiration, and the jazz flavor you fused into our compas
Thank you, and keep up the good work.
What other people have to say about Easy 1 2 3 kompa guitar tutorial
I'm just writing to thank you Ralph, because you've literally changed my life.
If it weren't for the first edition Kompa Guitar Tutorial I would never have learned to play guitar at all. I only started last November and followed the program religiously. And in my wildest dreams, I could never have imagined that I could play rhythm guitar, much less get up in front of an audience (small though it was) and perform.

The instructions are simple to follow, but you still learn so many new things in each lesson. I quickly learned the basics of rhythm guitar - the patterns and scales, etc. And the lesson with Robert Martino was absolutely mind blowing.

I'm from the UK and having a great deal of fun again and I think it has a lot to do with you, Ralph. You as a teacher, as a brilliant guitar player and most importantly - as a person.
Thanks for caring and sharing your gift for music that God has blessed you with.
